  thursday, 8 may 2008 17:29. the coombe women's hospital is facing a bill of over 1m for costs over its successful high court action in a recent blood transfusion case.. the case centred on whether the hospital was entitled to administer a necessary blood transfusion to a female member of the jehovah's witnesses faith, against her wishes.. in a landmark ruling last month, ms justice mary laffoy ruled the hospital had acted lawfully in getting a court order allowing it give the transfusion to the 24-year-old woman, who may be identified only as ms k.. the court also set out guidelines as to how hospitals, the courts and the state might address similar situations in the future.. the case was before the judge again yesterday to decide issues of the multi-million euro costs of the 37-day hearing.. the judge rejected applications by both the hospital and ms k to have their costs paid by the state.

  I Do Not Understand Why JWs Leave & Become Catholics!

  Minimus, that reminds me of something my priest said last year, when talking about the recent sexual abuse by priests, he said something to the effect that, "The Catholic church is not perfect, it is after all a church lead by sinners, as all men are sinners, and we haven't been perfect church since jesus died for our sins, but as long as our belief, our love and trust in the lord our faith will overcome." I don't remember word for word what he said but it was something like that.

  Falling Asleep at Assemblies

  yes i have dozed off many times when i used to attend.

  most of the time kept the shades on as we used to have outside assemblies.

  the thing was not to slide off the chair, drop your head forward or snore.. i've seen some brothers/sister hitting a serious lean to the left or right as they slept and then they'd jerk awake, only to lean again.. some people had sneaky methods.

  I use to fall asleep but last time I went to an ASSembLIE I was 13 or 14, but I remember when I was a kid my dad would always fall asleep and he would snore soo loud, and my mom would get pissed off at him.

  the only time that the watchtower publication uses the real name of a person mentioned is when it's some biographical experience that is the entire article.

  anytime a witness is quoted in an article or other publication, they always include a footnote.

  "i studied medicine because i wanted to use my life to help people.

  I really do not believe all the "personal Stories" that are in those magazines, and especially the Drama crap they do on stage at ASSembLies, I think they think making up those silly stories about how people became JW's is ok, it isn't really a lie, it just for dramatic purposes besides what harm does it do? It only enforces the hold on people in the cult with a warm fuzzy feeling deep inside.

  my best friend chris, works as a supervisor for a construction company has some jehovies that work for him, the other day he was saying how he thinks that they take advantage of the fact that they need time off to go to meetings, and special events.

  he goes on to tell me that they must leave early mondays, tuesdays, thursdays and fridays, also they never want to work weekends because of their service time.

  i started laughing and told him that he should just fire them, because they are taking advantage of his kindness and that the jws do not have that many meetings.

  UPDATE!!! Apparently they are also involved in PrimAmerica, some kind of be your own boss scheme they are using the JW meetings to get time off to start their own get rich quick plan. Wonder why its ok for them to lie? My friend said that he asked them if there was any way he could depend on them to work when they have large jobs that need to be finished and they said as long as it doesn't cut into their meeting time???
